Child Labor

Ethan has decided that he has to be involved with everything we do. I say, let’s put this kid to work!

Helping with the trash.

Helping dad put in the new bathroom sink. With our recent bathroom remodel Ethan became very interested in the tools, so we got him some play ones for Christmas. Of course his favorite is the hammer ... and for a little plastic thing it sure packs a punch. Since he's seen Jairo hammering on the walls in the bathroom he can't understand why he can't do the same and has left a few chips in the walls around the house. So, to save the walls, I had the bright idea of showing him how to use his hammer to check reflexes. He thought it was hilarious to see me gently tap my knee and have it kick into the air. When it was his turn to do the tapping I learned that he does not understand the concept of soft when he walloped me on the knee cap. I still have a twinge of pain on that knee. Now I have to teach him not to hammer walls or people. I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree!

Helping mom with dinner.
Feeding Maddie. He usually gets most of it in the bowl and for the little pieces that fall out he delicately picks them up one by one and feeds them to the dog ... and sometimes takes one for himself if we're not watching. Today, as I was washing the breakfast dishes I looked over to see Ethan brushing Maddie. I thought, great idea, the dog does need a good brushing. Then, as I took a closer look, I realized it was MY hair brush that was being used for the job. Gotta love your little helpers!
We hope the New Year finds everyone well and that you had a wonderful Christmas. Here at the Vanegas home we had a bad cold/flu cycle through our home so many of the holiday to do’s that were put off until the last minute did not get done … so much for Christmas cards in 2008!

That's so cute...what a good little helper! I love the little apron too! Ryan isn't much of a help with the dog food. He thinks it's fun to take the dog food and put it in the dog's water...oh well, he tries.

Wow Ethan is such a good helper! Lincoln just wants to be wherever we are and usually destroy something that we're making or doing. Right now he's big into pushing things around and pulling clean clothes out of the baskets, oh well . . . I would be more than happy to take your family pictures when you're in Utah next. I obviously don't charge anything yet because I'm still pretty new to photography. Anyway, have a great one!

Ethan is such a cute kid. I am really glad you guys came over the other night. We will have to get together again. Chris was hoping you guys had forgotten your toppings at our house the next day. :)
